Hello ladies! The pandemic has many of us stuck at home and unable to head outdoors. This also means that we haven’t been able to head to one of our all-time favorite places – the parlors. As a woman myself, I’ve faced the struggles of facial and body hair. I’ve looked for several options to get rid of unwanted hair. However, every method seemed uncomfortable and long. From waxing to threading and tweezing, each had its own side effects and was a pain to do on my own. This is when I stumbled upon facial razors and their benefits. You will know about 10+ tips to use facial razors on eyebrows, lips, and face later in this blog.

What is a Facial Razor?

The facial razor is a simple, handheld tool that aids in removing facial hair, peach fuzz (the short, soft hairs on the face), and smoothening skin texture. It helps clean the surface of the skin to remove dead skin cells and unwanted hair and even gets rid of uneven skin.

In addition, it helps skincare products penetrate deeply and evenly into the skin. Micro-planing or Blading is the term for this procedure. It is more commonly known as Dermaplanning.

Dermaplanning is the technique that removes the top layer of the skin to help make the skin look more radiant and glowing. Here in this blog, we will tell you about 10+ tips to use facial razors on eyebrows, lips, and face.

Should I use a Facial Razor? It is safe or not?

The facial razor can be used by those who have a lot of unwanted facial hair and want to get rid of it. A facial razor would also be useful if you are somebody who uses heavy makeup.

However, it must be kept in mind that some should take precautions when using it. Especially those with very sensitive skin or those with acne and pimples, as it could irritate one’s skin.

For these persons, it is best recommended that they work on a test patch on their skin first, to see how their skin reacts. They can continue shaving if their skin doesn’t show any adverse reaction.

Hence, a facial razor is the best tool that can be used at home. It is super affordable and less risky to use too.

Another pointer to note is to use a facial razor only if you have prior experience in shaving different areas of your body and are well versed in using the tool.

Some people tend to be shaky or anxious when using razors and this could lead to cuts, or worse, shaving more than what you intended to shave.

If needed, you can get help from a family member or friend to guide you when using one for the first time. You will know how to use facial razors on eyebrows lips and face in this blog.

Is it safe to use a Facial Razor for my upper lip?

A facial razor is widely used to remove the stache on your upper lip. Many people are apprehensive about using one, thinking it would make the skin look darker or hair grow back thicker.

However, these myths have been busted time and again. The only con is that the hair grows back faster compared to waxing and threading methods. This is because the hair is only removed at surface level.

Unlike other hair removal techniques, where it is pulled from the roots. As previously mentioned, it is completely safe to use a razor on your upper lip as long as you do not have very sensitive skin or pimples around that particular region.

How to use a Facial Razor on eyebrows safely?

Another use of the facial razor is to remove unwanted brow hairs and to shape your eyebrows. This also happens to be one of my favorite uses for the razor.

Many of us prefer threading, tweezing, or waxing our eyebrows as it provides precision and good shape to them. However, we also are aware of the terrible pain these techniques can induce. For this reason, having a facial razor has proved to be handy.

Even when you’re in a hurry and have no time to head to a salon, a facial razor could come to the rescue. Here are some tips and tricks to keep in mind, when using the facial razor on your eyebrows.

Things you will need:

  1. A Facial Razor
  2. Eyebrow Pencil (optional)
  3. Aloe Vera Face Gel or Face Oil
  4. Spoolie or Old Mascara Brush
  5. Wet Cloth or Cotton Pad

Procedure:

Take a little of the gel or face oil to spread evenly around the region near your brows.

Using the spoolie, comb through your eyebrows so that the eyebrow hairs are facing one direction. This should be in the direction of hair growth.

For extra precision, you can use an eyebrow pencil to outline the preferred shape you want for your eyebrows, leaving the extra hairs outside the outline. Take care when drawing the shape as this would ultimately decide how your face would look in the end. Furthermore, it would show you how your eyebrows would frame your face.

Then pull your forehead taut with your free hand and take the razor with your dominant hand.

Next, using the razor carefully shave the excess hairs that lie outside the shape you have drawn. If you haven’t outlined it, carefully shave off the stray hairs that grow past your natural brow line.

Repeat the procedure for your other brow and wipe the area clean with a cloth or cotton pad and you’re good to go.

How to use the Facial Razor on your face

Using a facial razor on your face is a much easier task. It doesn’t require skill or precision. Here are the steps to use the razor on your face.

You will need:

  1. Facial Razor
  2. Aloe Vera Gel or Face Oil
  3. Wet Wipe or Cotton Pad

Procedure:

Firstly make sure your face is clean and clear. Wash your face before you begin shaving it.

Take a little gel or your preferred facial oil and apply evenly all over your face (especially near your cheeks, forehead, and upper lip). This is to prevent the razor from cutting your skin due to dry friction.

Hold the razor with your dominant hand at a 45-degree angle. Use your free hand to pull your skin taut and slowly start shaving in small strokes in the direction of the hair growth (downwards). If it is your first time, start with a small area while applying very little pressure.

Clean the razor with a tissue, after every swipe.

Once you have removed the peach fuzz and unwanted hair you can wash your face and apply a moisturizer or some Aloe Vera Gel to prevent irritation and calm your skin.

Some tips to keep in mind before using a facial razor

It is best to shave the night before rather than shaving just before going out as sun exposure to small cuts and open pores could lead to more damage and breakouts.

Do not use the same razor more than four to five times. Once the blade becomes dull it won’t be as effective.

Keep your razors clean and maintain them after every use.

While shaving, do not repeatedly shave over the same area. This could irritate your skin.

If your facial hair tends to grow fast you can shave it once every week or every ten days. If your facial hair growth is less, you can shave once a month.

Don’t use the same razor for your face and body.

Don’t share your razors with anyone, not even family members. This is highly unhygienic and could pose threats to your skin.

Don’t press the razor on your skin while shaving. Using little pressure gives out the best results.

Always hold your razor at a 45-degree angle rather than perpendicular to minimize the risk of getting cuts.

Make sure to clean the razor with a cloth after every swipe to ensure the smooth removal of hair, dead skin cells, and peach fuzz.
